Elder Law is a new area of law that services the legal needs of seniors and their families.  Some of the tools that an elder law attorney uses include, but are not limited to, the following.

Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning

This topic is more fully covered in topic heading "Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning".  A simple explanation is that a Last Will and Testament speaks to issues that arise after a person dies.  A Trust can be established before a person dies or it can be established through a Last Will and Testament.  Some of the advantages of a Trust are that a person can provide a uniform scheme of distribution o  his/her assets, the ease with which assets can be transferred after death, a Trust is not a public document, and a Trust can be used to avoid probate.
